Carly Wilson Junior Female Player of the Year Award
The Carly Wilson Junior player of the year award is named after Former Australian basketball player
(and Vulture) Carly Wilson. Carly was born in Vermont and played her junior career for the Vermont
Eagles Basketball Club in the GEBC competition, prior to their merger with the Vermont Vultures in
2002. Carly is a 2-time WNBL champion (2003/04, 204/05) and was selected in the WNBL All Star
Five (2002/03). Carly first represented Australia at a junior level, competing in the 2001 FIBA Oceania
U19 Women’s Championship and was a member of the 2002 U21 national team that won gold at the
FIBA Oceania U21 Women’s Championships. She was a gold Medallist at the 2006 Commonwealth
Games and again at the 2009 FIBA Oceania Women’s Championship.
The Carly Wilson Junior Female Player of the Year award seeks to recognise Vultures who are most
likely to succeed in basketball and go onto play at the elite level. The award is given to those who
have achieved outstanding results in all aspects of basketball (Representative and/or state) over the
prior 12 months.
