G’day Vultures, I’m Grant.
I am husband to Jill, Dad to Archie and Banjo, and the coach for Under 8 Blue and Under 10 VT6. As a family, we love camping, adventures outdoors, cooking and eating, and reading. I played a lot of basketball as a kid, but I’m waiting for the inaugural Vultures Veterans team before I come out of retirement!
I’m an experienced secondary school teacher, educational leader, and currently College Chaplain at Kingswood College. I am excited to be bringing that expertise to work with the Vultures committee on Child Safety.
Culture, in organisations – especially sporting organisations – fascinates me. While it might seem like a compliance issue, a Child Safe culture is one that embraces learning, trust, fun, and (I would argue) success. When we look at high-performing sports teams, often trust, joy, relationships and a sense of belonging are the intangible but essential ingredients. These elements work hand-in-hand with Child Safety.
How can you help?
Vultures committee is forming a 3-5 member working group of people to bring their knowledge and skills to the Child Safety aspects of the club. You might be a fellow educator, in the medical, legal or another industry – you will have some time to work with like minded Vultures, be experienced in working with the Child Safety standards and understand how they apply in organisations.
If you have a good understanding of Child Safety Standards (2022) and would be willing to work with me to make recommendations to the committee, please get in touch at: firstname.lastname@example.org
