Presentation Day & Team Speeches

Vermont Vultures Basketball Club

Presentation Day Summer 24/25 – Sunday March 30, 2025

For Coaches / Team Managers:

This season’s award presentations will follow a similar format to the past 2 presentation days. Rather than a central presentation of each team, each age group is invited to come along at a specific time, the club will make small speech and trophies can be collected, then break off into team groups for each coach and/or team manager to present trophies and awards.

The format this season is:

  • 10am – Quick club speech and team trophy collection
  • 10:10am – Take your team and families to empty spot around the courts and run your own presentation run by your very own team coach
  • 10:20am – Free time to have a go at the timed Gauntlet competition with prizes, hang out at the BBQ’s for a snag and soft drink, or peruse the Uniform Shop for some Vultures game time and supporter apparel.

This will repeat hourly with each Age Group between 10am and 2pm – please see the table below for your age groups allocated time.

If another time slot might suit better than your allocated one, please reach out to David at familyengagement@vermontvultures so we can shuffle your spot.

Coaches TMs on the day:

  • Please be prepared to address the players/families to acknowledge the end of the season as a group.
  • For each team, we would appreciate:
    • Coach or team manager (or a delegate) to share some remarks about the season.
      • Try to emphasise that participation, enjoyment, team culture, and player development are more important than any team’s win-loss record, or whether they play finals, win a Grand Final or whether an individual player has achieved particular accolades or success.
    • Name and acknowledge each player on the team.
    • Aim to refer to a personal strength, success, or growth you have seen in each player.
      • Think skills; passing, shooting, dribbling, rebounding, defence, speed.
      • Think attitude; resilience, reliability, encouragement, recovery, commitment, support.
      • Think growth; a player’s first score or season, playing with five players, player learning and understanding, specific skills that you have coached/worked on.
    • Thank the parents for their support, encouragement of the players, their attitude, and the simple aspects like transport, uniforms, and scoring duties.
    • Thank particular parents if there have been circumstances that are appropriate to acknowledge.
    • Present, when these are being presented, the chosen awards for the season.
      • It is appropriate to talk about the rationale for awarding each award to a particular player.
      • If your team did vote, please do not talk about specific numbers of votes or the closeness.

In order to facilitate the movement of age groups, please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before your age group presentations are scheduled to commence.
