Hi Vultures Managers,

Happy New Year! We hope everyone enjoyed a safe festive season and a break after a tough 2020.

There’s always a lot to do at the start of a new season, so we have updated our Managers FAQ’s which you can find on our website here. Whether you are a first time manager or have been doing it for a few seasons, it’s worth taking a look at for helpful hints & information regarding the Team Manager role.

Summer restart

The 2020/21 Summer season starts for the Saturday competition on 23nd January, Friday competition on 29th January, and Monday competition on 1st February. Please refer to our website for full competition dates www.vermontvultures.org.au/season-dates/. The number of games that your team plays will depend on the day of the week that your team plays so please review and plan accordingly.

Given the start of the season for the Saturday competition is on the Australia Day weekend, please let us know urgently if you are unable to field a team due to players being away  via email to clubadmin@vermontvultures.org.au

We have been told that that MEBA are aiming to have the first fixtures up on the Nunawading website the week of the 12th, so please check there for your teams details.

Cashless team sheet payments via Teammo app

One big difference for this season – and all future ones – is that MEBA have moved to cashless entry in all their stadiums. Practically this means that Team managers will need to pay the  team sheet each week via the Teammo app. MEBA are offering training sessions via ZOOM for the TEAMMO App from next week, please see details on the following page. We have asked that these sessions are recorded and uploaded to the Nunawading website for those that cannot make these timeslots and we’ll let you know when this has occurred. There are also links to some tutorial videos on YouTube provided, these will also give you a pretty good idea of how it works.

The team sheet cost for this season has been reduced to $70 per team per week. A reminder that this covers all players, parents, and spectators. You will have the option of collecting funds via the Teammo app, otherwise you can use the normal cash or electronic transfer methods.

Given the reduction in training venue costs this season, the Club will cover team sheet fees for all teams for the first 4 weeks of the season. Please take this into account when calculating the total cost for each family. This also means that you will not be required to use the Teammo app until week 5 games.

Training

We are dependent on schools confirming venue availability before we can lock in training slots for all the teams. Unfortunately due to the fluidity of COVID restrictions, most were unable to do this before Christmas. We anticipate that for most teams, training will resume from first week in February.

Can you please check that your team coach has submitted their training preferences for the season, and if not, remind then to please complete this form – https://form.jotform.com/203522477784058  so that we can get everyone organized asap.

Lastly, MEBA/Nunawading Basketball has also provided additional game-specific information for the coming season. Please familiarise yourself with these details, provided overleaf.

MEBA/NUNAWADING BASKETBALL – TEAMMO TRAINING

All junior domestic competitions will be moving to digital payments using the Teammo platform from the recommencement of competition on 23rd January. In preparing our transition to this new process, we have scheduled several information/training sessions for club and team managers.

ZOOM SESSIONS

The roll-out will begin with sessions to be presented via zoom. Teammo will deliver these sessions and be able to answer questions you may have. Everyone including club representatives, team managers, coaches and parents can attend either the Thursday 14th or Saturday 16th session to learn the process, download the app and start using the platform.

The competition administration is endeavouring to have the round 1 fixture completed by the 12th January so that clubs/team managers can use these training opportunities to set up their accounts and make payment for their round 1 team sheet fee. Our goal is to have all teams set up and paid for prior to the 23rd January.

NUNAWADING BASKETBALL – RETURN TO SPORT GUIDELINES, SUMMER 20/21

VENUE CAPACITY

There is now only one restriction on attendance at games being the density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm. Basketball Victoria have, however, advised that associations should limit the number of spectators to 40 per court which we will follow. All patrons must continue to check-in at the venue via the QR Code.

FACE MASKS

Please note that the Victorian Government has again changed their advice on mask wearing and all patrons must wear a mask while inside the venue. The only exception to this rule is for players and referees who are excused from wearing a mask when participating in a match.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE

We continue to ask patrons not to arrive at their venue more than 10 minutes prior to their game. If you do arrive early, please wait in your vehicle or outside the venue (while maintaining social distancing). All patrons must also continue to leave the venue immediately after game. Any team discussions are to take place outside.

MATCH TIMING

Given the current BV “COVIDSafe Level” (formerly GREEN-100), the junior domestic competition is no longer required to have a 20-minute cleaning/sanitising gap between games. As such, for the Summer 20/21 season the competition will return to the usual 45-minute schedule with 18-minute halves.

However, we must advise, that should the Government and/or Basketball Victoria be required to downgrade our COVID level to ORANGE-50 or lower, the competition will return to the previously advised plan of 17-minute halves (40-minute schedule with 20-minute gap).

BASKETBALLS

Due to COVID-19, the decision has been made to limit the number of basketballs brought into venues. For the Summer 20/21 season and beyond the HEAD COACH of a team is the only person permitted to bring up to two (2) basketballs into the venue. The decision has also been made to follow the process of the VJBL and use a team ball as the match ball. All basketballs brough into the venue must continue to be wiped/sanitised upon entry.

GRAND FINALS

As previously advised, the junior domestic competitions will not be holding elimination finals for the Summer 20/21 season and will instead have 1st and 2nd playoff in a grand final. Grand finals will run on the 45-minute schedule. For the Summer 20/21 season there will be no player introductions, medal presentations. The competition will also be unable to provide scoretable officials for Summer 20/21 grand finals and teams are asked to provide a scorer. The Summer 20/21 Saturday Grand Final day will also be the Under 8’s Encouragement Day.
